I had one of those shut off on me.

They put on on a back road that was dead straight.

And at 85 or so the thing just gave up and shut off.

probably reached 88, and reached a temporal causality where both you and the sign experienced the "twin paradox", where you were moving past the sign so fast you saw the sign "before" it even started measuring your speed (as if you weren't there) and from the signs reference frame you havent appeared yet, until you are actually past the sign.

P.S.: Time dilation and Length contraction are fun chapters in the physics book!

There is a road I travel several times a week. No driveways and a few cross streets. Speed limit is 35. Everyone goes 40-45. They put one of those on the road and people would slam on the brakes when they see it. I'm like, the fricking sign is not recording you license plate people and you will not get a ticket, so just drive.

They put one of these up in my town a few weekends ago, then took it back down because they remembered why they stopped using one: people started trying to set records. We had no accidents and very little trouble for years before they put the sign up, and two wrecks after it was up.

I had one stop and flash full yellow when I hit 100kph on my bicycle (I road cycle and I can hit quite a bit over 100kph or 60mph).
